by HH Devamrita Swami

“The present focus of Western happiness science generally lands on genetics. At least 50 percent of our personal sense of well-being, we are told, derives from our genetic makeup. Our circumstances, such as where you live or work, or your health or marriage – established situations that are difficult to change – weigh in at only 10 percent.
After the 60% predetermined by genetics and curtailed by situations, our personal choices and will – the “Life is what you make of it” factor – come into play, for the remaining 40 percent.
This book explores another perspective, suggests a different road, one less traveled.
Beyond the material obstructions of genetics and circumstances, surpassing the tiny potential of our material intentionality and will, we can aspire for the realm of pure spiritual consciousness. On that route, we have 100 percent access to genuine happiness and well-being – for both the individual and society.”

What if you could build your devotee community, deepen your Krishna consciousness, give others the opportunity to learn about bhakti, and perform the dharma of the age all at the same time? In this very readable book, Vaisesika Dasa discusses both why we should join the family business of distributing transcendental knowledge through the written word as well as how book distribution benefits distributors, the devotional community, and all those who receive one of Srila Prabhupada’s books.

Learn about

The history of book distribution in ISKCON.

How book distribution is “literary kirtana” and perfectly links one to the yuga-dharma.

How performing book distribution is high sadhana and instills a taste for hearing and chanting.

The Four Laws of Book Distribution – proven principles guaranteed to improve and increase your book distribution.

Fun and practical ways to involve your whole community in sankirtana.

Our Family Business makes it clear that every devotee and every service is part of the sankirtana effort. Even if book distribution is not your primary service, expect to be enlightened, encouraged, and enlivened by reading this book.

Sri Brihad-bhagavatamrita is an epic work composed in Sanskrit during the sixteenth century by Sanatana Goswami, one of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu‘s leading disciples. It is one of the first books written by any of the Six Goswamis of Vrindavan.

In three volumes, it gives an easily readable account of two great spiritual quests. In one, the Vedic sage Narada searches throughout the universe for Krishna’s greatest devotee. In the other, the cowherd boy Gopa Kumar searches for Krishna Himself—the Supreme Person, the ultimate goal of life.

The Bhagavatamrita is rooted in ancient history. It is the appendix to the sage Jaimini Rishi’s version of the historical saga Mahabharata, and was spoken by the hero of the Srimad-Bhagavatam, King Pariksit, to his mother, just moments before the king’s death.

This edition of Sri Brihad-bhagavatamrita is the work of Gopiparanadhana Dasa, who was part of the team of Srila Prabhupada’s scholarly disciples who completed the translation and commentary on Srila Prabhupada’s life’s work—the Srimad-Bhagavatam—after Srila Prabhupada’s passing in 1977. Gopiparanadhana Dasa wrote several volumes of translation and commentary on the Goswamis’ writings before his passing in 2011.
